| Nea Smyrni Indoor Hall |
| Capacity: 1,832 |
|
Location:
This indoor hall is located in the Nea Smyrni district, 4 km south
of the Athens city centre. Exit Athens via Sygrou Avenue, which leads
to the sea. Nea Smyrni lies to your left. You have to turn right,
left and again left, to pass under Sygrou, following the signs to
"Nea Smyrni". After passing through Chrisostomou Smyrnis
Square you will come to Omirou St and, eventually, to the traffic
lights of the crossroad with Eleftheriou Venizelou Avenue (the main
street of Nea Smyrni). Cross it and after 150m turn right into Aghias
Sofias St. You'll come to a small square, where you must turn left
into Andrianoupoleos St. Go on and take the third turn left, into
Artakis Str - you will reach the indoor hall after 400m.
You may of course use a bus to get there. From Athens use either #134 or #137, while if you are in Piraeus take #218 or #232. |

More
data: Nea Smyrni Indoor Hall is not suitable today for a club
like Panionios. It is very small, looks really antiquated and lacks
modern amenities for both the fans and the athletes. This is why the
club and the local authorities have long been asking for it to be
replaced. This may happen either by the total reconstruction and expansion
of the existing building or by the construction of a new arena somewhere
in the vicinity. Plans above depict a new ultra-modern arena with
a capacity of approximately 5,000 spectators. The cost for its construction
(which is most likely to be state-funded) is estimated at € 5
million.
