Are they that close to being finished? Or will they play in a half finished stadium like Panthessaliko. |

Unfortunately,no...some technical problems(the members from Thessaloniki don't own digital cameras) don't allow us to have any photos from any stadium in Thessaloniki... |

More or less, yes, capacity will remain the same. As for the stadium being ready: according to an article in today's Imerisia newspaper, Kaftanzoglio will be ready 10 days ahead of schedule, on April 20th (i.e. next week). |

For such a great stadium, with all its history staging great finals ect.. it is a shame the present reincarnation can only seat 28,000
The Kara 32,000 and Paok 35,000 |

My God, our stadiums are getting better in quality but shrinking - with little white lies of possible expansions (most of them impossible due to new motorways, lack of space, ect) to stop people discussing it!! |

Thats because nobody goes to the games anymore..... No need to build 50,000 seats stadiums when only 10,000 people show up. (and this only the big teams) |

I don't think so. Holiganism has stoped many fans coming but European games are sell outs like in the rest of Europe. In Oporto they sometimes only get 13,000 at games, but fill the European nights. Are u telling be 30,000 fans would only want to go to an Athenian derby/??? I think those games can fill 65,000 at least..
P.S. Thanks for helping me get out of the Brigg in Skyscraper, that was very brave of u and much appreciated!! |

We also have to think about the poor quality of the Greek championship games. For example i don expect a full stadium of 50000 on a game like..olympiakos-akratitos. There is no saspens. But in European games is different...Besides there is not that much afraid of hooliganism, because there arent that many of foreign teams fans. |

Moved.
As for the question included below, the answer is yes. The stadium's capacity was to be increased to around 33,000, if the 2008 bid was successful.

One question, and the Admin can probably help me out with it.
According to the plans for the Greece-Turkey Euro 2008 bid, what was it's capacity to be increased too? |

I had the pleasure of seeing the Olympic soccer opener live in person between Greece and Korea at the "new" Kaftanzoglio.
I have to admit that the refurbished stadium is great. I was pleasantly suprised. What a difference from the last time I sat foot at Kaftanzoglio, which was back in 1987. The only drawback were the way too narrow seats, so prey that you don't have to sit next to an over-weight person when you go to Kaftanzoglio.

Hi Chris, I was all over the place, Athens, Tinos, Aretini, Thessaloniki, Chalkidiki, Thessaloniki again, Grevena (xorio), and back to Athens.
I saw the Greece - Korea game at Kaftanzoglio, missed the PAOK - Maccabi game because it was sold out (good thing i missed it ). In Athens I went to some Equestrian events, and track & field on 8/21 (Kelesidou getting silver).
Highlite of the trip was meeting few people in person (you know some of them ) from the other forums. The trip was fun. |
