I have 3 questions, I hope some can help me with them.

1) The Olympic Venue Peristeri after the Olympic was supposed to be made into an athletic complex:

Does anybody in Athens know if this happened?

2) I heard the Helliniko Complex/area was going to be made into a park after the Olympics, did this happen and what is the situation?

3) Can anybody provide me with a list of Athletic events hosted by Greece in recent times? I know they hosted a couple Basketball tournaments, and I believe track one year, what about fooball? And obviously Olympics in 2004.... If it is possible, can you give me the year these were held? I believe Euro Championships was held in 1995, and then World Championships in 1998, which Arenas were used for these events?

Thank you in advance, and congrats on a wonderful Olympics!! (you proved everybody wrong!)

First of all, thanks for your kind words Smile

Arrow Re question #1, no work has started on the conversion of the indoor hall yet.

Arrow Re Helliniko, we're in a "wait-and-see" situation. The scale of this project is simply huge, as the park will be the largest in Greece and one of the largest city parks in Europe. The government is officially in a "planning stage" for the whole thing, whatever that means...

Arrow As for question #3, in recent years Greece hosted the following events in major sports (apart from the Olympics):

Athletics (Track & Field)
1982 European Championships (Olympic Stadium)
1985 European Indoor Championships (Peace & Friendship Stadium)
1997 World Championships (Olympic Stadium)

Football
1983 Champions League -then "European Cup"- final (Olympic Stadium)
1987 Cupwinners' Cup final (Olympic Stadium)
1994 Champions League final (Olympic Stadium)

Basketball
1985 Euroleague -then "European Cup"- final (Peace & Friendship Stadium)
1987 European Championships (Peace & Friendship Stadium)
1989 European Cupwinners' Cup final (Peace & Friendship Stadium)
1993 Euroleague -then "European Cup"- final four (Peace & Friendship Stadium)
1995 European Championships (Olympic Sports Hall)
1995 Juniors' World Championships (Alexandrio Arena and Olympic Sports Hall)
1998 World Championships (Peace & Friendship Stadium and Olympic Sports Hall)
2000 Euroleague final four (PAOK Arena)
2003 Women's European Championships (Tofalos Arena and Pyrgos Arena)

Volleyball
1992 European Cup final four (Peace & Friendship Stadium)
1993 European Cup final four (Peace & Friendship Stadium)
1994 World Championships (Peace & Friendship Stadium)
1995 European Championships (Peace & Friendship Stadium)
1996 European Cupwinners' Cup final four (Peace & Friendship Stadium)
1997 European Cupwinners' Cup final four (Alexandrio Arena)
2000 European Cupwinners' Cup final four (Zofria Indoor Hall)
2005 European Cup final four (PAOK Arena)
2005 European Cupwinners' Cup final four (Peace & Friendship Stadium)

Also, many World and European Championships in various other sports (e.g. gymnastics, aquatics, weightlifting, fencing, judo, boxing, wrestling, sailing etc).
